Google; the global search giants in their Google’s Year in Search 2019: Nigeria put together the data based on search for the hottest and top 10 Nigerian Musicians 2019. AFROSAGES expands the lists to give you a brief background of their government names and hit songs that got them into the search queries of Nigerians and Africans as a whole.

The data is based on the search queries ran by Nigerians for the most sort after Nigerian Musicians that are “ganging and banging” the stages and have their records played on the airwaves, the TV stations and streamed across the net on the digital music platforms.

It is however surprising how big names like Davido and Wizkid did not make top the search list for the Top 10 Music Artistes for 2019 as compared to same data in 2018. This is a clear indication of the ruling of the new entrants; what the Nigeria Headies call the Next Rated Acts.

Zlatan

Born Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael in December 1994 and known professionally as Zlatan, has become a household name with the 2018 hit track Zanku which become a global dance step. In 2014 however, Zlatan won the Airtel One Mic talent show held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He went to collaborate with Burna Boy on another hit song; “Killin Dem”

Burna Boy

Born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu; stage name – Burna Boy rose to prominence in 2012 after releasing “Like to Party” a sing single from his debut studio album. In 2019, he got nominated of the Grammy’s with African Giant Album in the World Music Category.

Hit Songs of the African Giant includes Ye, Anybody, Another Story, Dangote and Killin Dem which have all become global sensations.

Naira Marley

This another sensation rising fast from the beginning of 2019. Born Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley in May 1994 is an England based Nigerian Music act known as the pioneers of the AfroBashment which is a fusion of afrobeat with Jamaican and British influences.

Naira Marley has been in the news and dominated the search for the good(music) and the bad press over song titles and lyrical content and declarations off the music. His hit songs include “Bad Influence“, “Issa goal”, “Am I a Yahoo Boys”, “Soapy”, “PXTA” and his debut single “Marry Juana”

Teni

Born Teniola Apata, Teni for short as she would have fans call her is a mega entertainer with a great singing voice and magical song writing skills. Her debut album she titled Billionaire is an evergreen banger.

Teni broke to the scene with hits like Uyo Meyo and Billionaire which are sensations and dance tunes beyond Nigeria and Africa.

Kizz Daniel

Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe aka Kizz Daniel popularly for his hit songs like “Woju” and “Yeba” made it to big list with his sensational song in 2019 One Ticket.

One Ticket featured the Nigerian Global Heavyweight Davido.

Simi

Simisola “Simi” Ogunleye who gained prominence in 2014 after releasing “Tiff” is a vocal powerhouse who has remained in the search ever since her debut. She also got hits in the search queries with “Selense” and “Doyin”

Her marriage to fellow Nigerian Musician Adenkule Gold created a lot of buzz on the search radar aside her mesmerising musical dexterity.

Phyno

Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike aka Phyno, a rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He started his music career as a producer in 2003, and is renowned for rapping in the Igbo language. His debut studio album No Guts No Glory was released in 2014. 

His year of search 2019 saw him with bangers like “Ride for You” with featured Davido and “Ojimo”

Rema

Divine Ikubor, stage name Rema, signee of Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records rose to prominence with the release of the song “Iron Man”, which appeared on Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.

Rema had since released bangers like Dumebi and “Lady

Timaya

A veteran of the Nigerian Music scene, Inetimi Timaya Odon, aka Timaya. He is the founder of DM Records Limited. Timaya landed into 2019 with two bangers “I can’t Kill Myself” and “Balance”

His solo career began in 2005 with the release of “Dem Mama”, which also appeared on his debut album, True Story released the following year.

Fireboy

Adedamola Adefolahan aka Fireboy DML; a signee of Olamide YNBL Nation dropped his album Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps and made it to top of the search list ahead of industry heavyweights.

This is due to his sizzling vocal as displayed on his hits like “Like I Do” and Jealous.

Intriguing enough Wizkid and Davido found their songs in the most searched Songs and Lyrics for the same year in search 2019: Nigeria. Could it be that Google has counted Davido and Wizkid as now globals superstars that are not with Nigerian search data?
