Here are the most expensive Ghanaian football transfer ever.
Michael Essien (£24.4million) – Lyon to Chelsea
Chelsea completed a swoop for Ghana midfielder Michael Essien for what was a club record fee of £24.4 in the summer of 2005. It held the record as the most expensive transfer in African football for years.
Baba Rahman (£21.7million) – Augsburg to Chelsea
Chelsea again, this time it was Augsburg left back Baba Rahman. They paid £21.7million for the Ghanaian in 2015 to replace Filipe Luis.
Andre Ayew ( £20.5million) – Swansea to West Ham
West Ham dished out £20.5million (a club record fee at that time) for the son of the Maestro Abedi Pele to Swansea to secure the signature on Andre Dede Ayew.
Sunderland broke the club’s transfer record to sign striker Asamoah Gyan in August 2010. The deal for Gyan was eventually completed around 15 minutes before the transfer deadline on 31st August.
Kwadwo Asamoah (€18million) – Udinese to Juventus
The Ghana midfielder signed for Italian giants Juventus from Udinese for a fee of €18million in July 2012.
Asamoah Gyan (€17million) – Al Ain to Shanghai SIPG
The striker’s second entry in the Top 10. Shanghai SIPG in the summer of 2015,splashed €17million to sign Asamoah Gyan on a three-year deal. Gyan’s weekly salary of £227,000 made him one of the world’s best paid football players.
Sulley Muntari (£11million) – Portsmouth to InterMilan
Ghana midfielder Sulley Munatri moved to the San Siro for £11million in 2008 where he teamed up with The Special One Jose Mourinho.
Emmanuel Boateng (€11million) – Levante to Dalian Yifang
Levante sold the Ghanaian striker to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang for €11 million in February 2019.
