These things gets your prayers unanswered – It can get really tiring to continue praying on a particular thing and not only does your prayers get unanswered but becomes frustrating as your needs grow.
Prayer and supplication has been a way man reaches out to His Maker but as to whether these prayers and supplications get answers from the Lord is a matter dependent on the nature, the heart, the intent and timing of the prayer built on faith.
Many folks only love to look at the favourable parts of scriptures to justify their claims particularly when it comes to prayers and supplications. One of the widely abused scriptures is John 15:7 which states; ‘If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. ‘ – AMP
Most people leave out the “remain in me and I remain in you” part only to focus on the “ask whatever you wish, or desire and it will be done for you”. I am so very much sorry to indulge your attention with the truth which insists on the “remain in Him and He in you” as the precondition for granting whatever you wish or pray for.
The state of your heart when you “remain in Him and He in you” is critical in the granting your asks – A classical example is when Samuel was asked by the Lord to anoint young David and Samuel upon arrival was looking out for the outward things but the Lord reveals how He looks into the heart.
Thus, the LORD looks at our hearts when we offer our prayers and supplications and upon that He answers them or otherwise – Read 1 Samuel 16:7
To “remain in Him and He in you” means your faith counts in whether your prayers will be answered or not. Matthew 21:22 states that “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” This means that you believe each other, you trust each other and working towards a common goal and with that whatever you are asking is guaranteed for the mutual benefit of you and the Christ Kingdom.
Your timing vs the Timing of God – Most people for being in a hurry to get solutions to their problems thinks they can dictate for God or at least bend His hand to deliver on their timelines. Even the disciples prayed Christ to tell them the timing of His second coming; Christ revealed that only the Father knows the time. All issues of timing rests with our Father; The Master. Read Matthew 24:36
Most people get to hold on to prophecies that states “a day, a month, a year by this time” and fail to trust the LORD but rather literally interpret it unto their own calendars; the good old Gregorian calendar. Forget not that the timing of the LORD is not the timing of man. Read 2 Peter 3:8.
With your prayers and supplications, do they project the Glory of God? What are your intentions vs the intentions of God concerning the things you are asking for? Was man not placed on earth to project the glory of God at all times and in all things?
Thus we being asked to remain in Him as He remains in us to lead us into all truth. If you remain in God and He in you, there is not a chance your prayers and supplications would not project His glory because you are most definitely focused on His things as He is focused on your things.
Read 1 Samuel Chapter 1 and 2 – Hannah year after year was focused on getting a child to make a statement to her rival but when she came to the realisation that her asking was to bring glory to God, her prayer was granted for which she fulfilled her end of the bargain.
So ask yourself the above questions when you wish to say words of prayer and supplication. Where is your heart, your faith, your intentions and if it is to the glory of God? Above all of these, are you patience enough to look up and wait for the LORD to carry out His will? Whatever you are praying about must be one that is on the Heart of the LORD. Focus on these things, remain in HIM, then shall He grants you all your heart desire.
Father LORD, grant me the wisdom to focus on praying on the things that matters to you.
