The LOVE of God is NOT without Corrections and Punishments – David must be crazy to profess; “Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” in his account of Psalms 23:4. David is a person the LOVE loves most yet here he is telling you how the Rod and the Staff comforts him.
There is joy in the LORD and no doubt about that, but, be advised; “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.” – 1 Corinthians 6:12. Take a pause when you want to ride on grace to continue in sin and want to overly expresses yourself lest sin would crouch at your door.
I enjoyed life as an unbeliever, why do I come to God and there is pain, hurts and punishments?
Remember that God is the author of both pain and healing. God would heal the wounds he inflicted for discipline. When God does allow pain to come into our lives, it is not to harm us, but to make us better. Read Job 5:18-21
The LOVE of God is NOT without Corrections and Punishments? Yes, He corrects and if He wishes to punish us, He reserves the sole right, who dares counsel the LORD? We ought to love the correction and punishment of the Lord.
David in the covenant with God was with an underlying statement;
‘I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. ‘ – 2 Samuel 7:14
David, This is a man after God’s own heart, yet God promised and chastened (discipline; punish)him, read 2 Kings 11:14-23. Not only was the promised made but God truly carried it out.
“Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects; Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. – Deuteronomy 8:5
My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord. Or loathe His reproof, For whom the Lord loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights. – Proverbs 3:11-12
What does corrections and punishments from God mean for me?
‘If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect.
Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. ‘ – Hebrews 12:7-10
But Punishment and Corrections are Painful, I cannot go through with this! Yes, punishment and correction is painful, but remember that when God does allow pain to come into our lives, it is not to harm us, but to make us better.
‘Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.’ – Hebrews 12:11.
Dear Father, let your rod and staff comfort me, may I rejoice in your chastening for the sake of my righteousness.
