‘Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. ‘ Joel 2:13
I do not suppose you are sold on the idea that you are human and bound to sin always lest you continue in them for the fact that there is a God that always forgives, he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity but do not abuse this window of opportunity.
God is not satisfied with outward acts of repentance. God required more than mere external words or actions; He wants a change of heart and sorrow over sin that makes man resolves never to go back to those sins. The act to rend your heart and not your garments should cause one to flee next time the sins one repents from presents itself again.
After rending your heart, return to the gracious and ever compassionate Lord our God and stay on His path of Holiness and serve. Love God. Do as He wills, serve in His vineyards and be fruitful.
Dear LORD, Help me stay on the path of righteousness as my lifestyle and not as a charade.
