Knowledge of the scripture, “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom” may not be alien to you but what you might not know is that fearing God and obeying his commands is a duty of Man. A sacred duty.
The intent of God with the creation of man, is for man to obey the commands of God. Even as men, when we bring forth children or invent things, the demand on that child or thing is for obedience to our dictates.
The rebellion of man is what caused us to be given a free will to do as please, or to repent of our sinful ways and get back into the fold as being children of God to fear and obey his commands. To fear God is to have reverence for Him, and reverence is not without Obedience. With Obedience comes rewards just as disobedience comes with punishments.
The Word of the LORD God in its entirety talked about obedience and reverence; from Genesis to Revelations just as King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes was inspired to admonish us stating;
Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. – Ecclesiastes 12:13b
Benefits of Fearing God and Obeying His Commands
Obedience is a show of deep love, thus, Jesus made a call to us to obey the Father;
If you love me, you will keep my commandments. – John 14:15 Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. 2John 6
- Through Obedience, We Experience the Blessings of Holy Living – Genesis 22:18
- Disobedience Leads to Sin and Death, Obedience gives Life – 1 John 2:3–6
- Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice – 1 Samuel 15:22–23
- Obedience to God Demonstrates Faith – 1 John 2:3–6
- Obedience Is an Act of Worship – Romans 12:1
My prayer is that we fear God and learn to obey all His commands in order to experience the good things that comes with it. God bless you.
God demands reverence!
