Latest infections places the coronavirus in Iran,, Italy and South Korea.
Iran’s Deputy Health Minister is reported to have been infected with the virus as he is quarantined to work from home.
Italy has also quarantined 50,000 of its citizens in a over 9 towns in efforts to slow down the outbreak in the European block.
Not many days ago did Iran claim to be virus free and now there are allegations of they underreporting the number of confirmed cases and deaths. Iran places confirmed cases at 95 people including the Iranian Deputy Minister for Health; Iraj Harirchi.
“I too have been infected with coronavirus,” ….”I’ve isolated myself in a place since. A few minutes ago, I was told that my final test was final, and now I am starting medication.” Iran’s Deputy Health Minister – Iraj Harirchi.
South Korea has however reported 600 cases and with 6 deaths as the country and its authorities have raised the highest level alert for the virus.
The coronavirus outbreak is rather becoming a major threat to economic activities in the world particularly to and fro China and its neighbouring countries.
Stock exchange markets are taking hits with some taking up and down spikes due to fears of the coronavirus impact on trading activities. Tourist locations are getting closed down in the affected regions to curtail the transmissions.
With Iran second to China in the number of cases and deaths and the US on the necks of countries to provide clarity as to exposure levels, would this be another Cold War?
