Are you closer to God? How close are you to Him? You may ask, How to get closer to God? The LORD God is Holy and it can only take you being Holy to stay close.
Being closer to God is a demand for Holiness, a demand to let go of the old ways, be transformed by the renewal of mind and taking up Christlike deeds.
Apostle James was inspired by the Holy Ghost to write to us what it takes to be closer to God;
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. – James 4:8
How to Get Closer to God
Wash your hands – get rid of the sins of your flesh, stop asking for forgiveness and intentionally going back those sins only to make it a recurring errand of always coming to ask for forgiveness only to return to them.
Purify your hearts – take the journey to the cross to cast all the sins of the spirit on Him. Pick up the Christlike deeds as are products of Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23.
We must all acknowledge the undeniable fact that there is no middle lines with it comes to be holy, getting closer to God and most importantly staying close. It is either you are with God or with the other side, there is no middle ground or alternatives.
Resolve to get closer to God, your Maker, your Creator, the Master.
Observe a quiet time with Him(fellowship), read His Word and meditate on it(communion with God), spend time in prayer and fasting to unlock your spirit, lift up praises, worship and tell of his goodness(testimonies), put your god given gifts to an impactful use that draws others to the kingdom, share the good things the LORD God has done for you with another and dedicate yourself to a selfless service for another to see the glory of your God abound.
If you will forget the goodness of the Lord your God, keep a journal and record all the things He has done, He is doing and the ones He said He will do. Christianity is a call to grow from one stage to another and not to be a deformed, stunted growth nor remain a baby as you were born again.
Dear LORD, teach me through your Word how to get closer to you. Let the Baptise me with the Holy Spirit and let Him be my guide throughout my growth process.
